Hull boss confirms Joe Gelhardt interest but says other targets take priority | OneFootball

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has confirmed he wants to bring Joe Gelhardt back, while acknowledging other positions are taking precedence this window.

"If it's my decision, he will be here with us," he told BBC Radio Humberside during the club's pre-season camp in Türkiye.

"We are expecting some players in these positions, the No.10 or right-winger, so we have to wait. I know everything about Joffy, he scored 15 goals and got seven assists."

"We know everything about him. He doesn't need any adaptation but we will see. If nobody comes, I would like to sign Joffy."

Gelhardt enjoyed an 18-month loan at the MKM Stadium and helped secure promotion via the Championship play-offs. He has indicated he would like a permanent move, and is thought to favour a return to the Premier League newcomers.

For a second year he has been left out of Daniel Farke's pre-season tour. The 24-year-old, under contract for one more year, is set to leave Leeds as the club manage tighter Squad Cost Ratio limits.

Leeds had tried to sell him last summer but opted for a Hull loan while the Tigers were under transfer restrictions. Birmingham City are also rumoured, though not confirmed, to hold an interest.

Owner Acun Ilicali has praised Gelhardt but said the decision rests with the head coach.
