Kamara made a frank admission about his move away from the Canaries, having reportedly submitted a transfer request.
Hull City summer signing Abu Kamara has admitted that the summer window was the right time for him to leave Norwich City.
Speaking to the Tigers' media team during their pre-match press conference, Kamara also revealed that this decision to leave Carrow Road was made easier when he spoke to Hull boss Tim Walter.
The 21-year-old only made six appearances for the Canaries' senior team in total, but he made a real impression at Portsmouth last season.
Registering plenty of goals and assists for Pompey, he proved to be a key player in guiding the club back to the Championship, and many of their fans would have wanted him to stay.
However, their chances of signing the player permanently were probably hampered by how well he did at Fratton Park, and there was no shortage of interest in the player during the summer window.
He could have even stayed at Carrow Road, with Johannes Hoff Thorup including Kamara as part of his plans.
However, he only came off the bench for brief cameos in the Canaries' opening two league games and the player ended up submitting a transfer request.
After this request was reported, it always looked likely that the player would leave Norfolk before the end of the summer window, and a move to the MKM Stadium materialised.
The 21-year-old made a bold decision to move to the MKM Stadium, because there won't be a shortage of competition for a starting place.
But he came to one clear conclusion - and that conclusion was that he had to move away from Norwich.
"It was a risk, but I'm happy with where I am now. Hull City is a big club and I'm happy with my decision.
"It was a bit hectic, to be honest, because there were a lot of teams that came in for me, but when I heard the interest from Hull was there, I was excited about the project.
"I felt like the time was right to leave Norwich and when I spoke to the manager, it made my decision a lot easier."
Kamara could have been a real asset for Norwich.
At just 21 and likely to be full of confidence after an excellent spell at Pompey last term, he could have made a major impact in the final third if given the chance.
It may have taken him some time to adapt to the second tier - and that's understandable.
But he would have adapted eventually and could have been a good attacking replacement for Jonathan Rowe.
Unfortunately, Norwich never saw the best of Kamara and that will be the Canaries' main regret at the moment.
