Hull City boss backs Leeds United move for Tarik Muharemovic | OneFootball

Leeds United’s £34million move for centre-back Tarik Muharemovic has been endorsed by Hull City head coach Sergej Jakirovic. The 23-year-old joined from Sassuolo on a five-year deal last week, the club’s second-highest outlay, to cover Pascal Struijk’s exit.

“He's a very good player. He had a very good season in Sassuolo. There was a lot of interest about him from a lot of big names. He's a left-footed centre-back, a national team player, and Bosnia has played a good World Cup,” said Jakirovic, speaking to The Yorkshire Post.

“It will be a good profile for Leeds. He grew up in Austria so he speaks German and they [Leeds] have coaches from Germany. so I think he will adapt very well.”

Bosnia reached the last-32 this summer before losing to the USA. Muharemovic is set to return from post-World Cup leave midway through Leeds’ US tour, having visited Elland Road last week.

Leeds visit Hull on December 30, with the return at Elland Road on March 3. Supporters can expect a combative defender, with the Bosnian admired at Sassuolo and internationally for mentality and leadership.

After signing, Muharemovic pledged to give everything in every game, said he hates losing and will fight for every ball, and added he cannot wait to start the season and experience the sold-out Elland Road atmosphere.
