According to journalist Darren Witcoop on X, Hull City are the latest team to have taken an interest in the attacker, who played a part in guiding Leicester City back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Foxes, who lost Harvey Barnes last summer, richly benefitted from having McAteer at their disposal, with his contributions proving to be important.

It's a shame for him that injury issues disrupted part of his campaign, because without them, he could have been even more effective under Enzo Maresca, who gave him the opportunity to shine on a regular basis.

McAteer proved to be particularly effective during the early stages of last term, registering a brace at Rotherham United and also scoring away at Southampton, who also went on to be promoted at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

But with the player spending the latter stages of the season either out of action or mostly on the bench, it remains to be seen whether he will be an important player under Steve Cooper during the 2024/25 season and beyond.

With Abdul Fatawu signing permanently and Bobby Decordova-Reid also arriving, that could limit McAteer's time on the pitch.

It would also be a big ask for the player to make the step up to the Premier League and be a formidable wing option at the top level, even though he impressed at times last season.

According to Witcoop, McAteer is attracting interest from Hull, who utilised the loan market last term as well.

Both the Tigers and Championship rivals Cardiff City are thought to be interested in taking the Leicester man on a season-long loan deal.

Hull utilised the loan market last term to bring in some top-quality players, with the likes of Fabio Carvalho, Ryan Giles and Anass Zaroury linking up with the Tigers on temporary deals.

Giles has been signed permanently since then, but the other two have returned to their parent clubs.

It's unclear whether they would be able to sign McAteer permanently at some point, but at 22, the Foxes will be hoping that the winger can return to the King Stadium Stadium a better player and play a vital role for them in the future.

And at this stage, it's also unclear whether the Foxes are even prepared to let him go out on loan this summer, with the player starting in a pre-season friendly yesterday.

Kasey McAteer needs to prioritise game time if given a chance to seal loan exit

McAteer needs to be playing as much as possible next term - but that game time may not come at Leicester.

This is why he needs to sit down with current boss Cooper and discuss how much time he's likely to get on the pitch next term.

A temporary move back down to the second tier could be a good move for the player, but he needs to seek assurances about his game time there too.

It's not worth him making a temporary move if he isn't going to start regularly.

But considering how good he was for much of last term, his potential future loan team will want him to be heavily involved.
