Hull City sporting director Jared Dublin has set out the club’s wish to keep Joe Gelhardt beyond this season, with Leeds United’s situation likely to influence any move.
"On the Joffy one, it's very clear. I've been very vocal, the chairman, the gaffer, Joffy knows how much we love him, how much we value him, how much we would love for him to continue his Hull City story. That's case closed on that one. We'll see what happens." He was speaking to Hull Live.
"Division [is] probably the most important, and with Joffy (Gelhardt) in particular, where Leeds are, should they maintain Premier League status or come down, so there's loads of moving parts."
Gelhardt, 23, is on a season-long loan at Hull from Leeds, where he is under contract until 2027. He scored eight in 10 Championship games before a December hamstring injury sidelined him for five weeks, and his tally now stands at 11 after Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Queens Park Rangers.
Leeds’ league position, six points above the Premier League relegation zone with 11 matches left, could shape their plans for the forward. Under his current deal, there are only two windows to secure a fee.
