Cody Drameh is now Serie A-bound after previous Championship interest

Hull City have reportedly sanctioned the exit of in-demand full-back Cody Drameh, but it is news which will come as a Deadline Day blow to the Championship trio of Preston North End, Sheffield United and Stoke City.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Tigers full-back is bound for Serie A outfit, Genoa, with the Premier League newcomers also targeting a move for Brooke Norton-Cuffy from the Italian side themselves.

All three of North End, the Blades and the Potters have endured frustrating and winless starts to the Championship season so far, with the Lancashire and North Staffordshire outfits also occupying the bottom two places, with Stoke sat last in the division on goal difference at present.

Meanwhile, after finishing 13th last season, Chris Wilder's side would have hoped to have pushed on whilst undergoing a well-documented squad rebuild throughout the summer, but amid their draw-heavy start to the season, United's owners, COH Sports, have been embroiled in a legal dispute with former chairman, Prince Abdullah.

The aforementioned Drameh had also been heavily linked with a return to the Championship after initial speculation over his Hull future in January, but those circumstances now appear to be dead in the water.

Drameh, 24, has extensive Championship experience at this stage of his career, having enjoyed a plethora of loan spells with the likes of Cardiff City, Luton Town and Birmingham City from Leeds United, before he joined Hull on a permanent basis in the summer of 2024 under Tim Walter.

The full-back has since made 58 appearances for the Tigers in all competitions, with 26 of those coming last season as Sergej Jakirovic's team earned a shock return to the Premier League.

However, after seeing transfer links with Stoke, Preston and Millwall resurface, it was reported that Drameh had set out his intention to remain at the MKM Stadium and fight for a place in Jakirovic's 25-man squad.

Sheffield United were then credited with interest before the recapture of Hamza Choudhury, and now it looks as though the England youth international is set for a first European move in a swap-deal for Norton-Cuffy after Hull appeared to have swiftly ended their initial pursuit of VfB Stuttgart and German international defender, Josha Vagnoman.

Drameh has been a substitute in both of Hull's Premier League wins over Manchester United and Coventry City, whilst also playing the entirety of their EFL Cup success over Stoke seven days ago.

As well as losing on penalties to the East Yorkshire side, this isn't the only transfer saga which the two clubs have become embroiled in, with Hull looking to complete a last-gasp swoop for Sorba Thomas, who contributed to 23 goals last season.

It has been reported that the Welsh international will be omitted from the Potters' squad to take on Norwich City at the Bet365 Stadium on Tuesday night as discussions between the two clubs continue.

Drameh isn't the only Hull player who Stoke have set their sights on this summer, as through their negotiations over Thomas' exit, the Potters are one of three Championship sides to have targeted Canadian winger, Liam Millar.

However, after it was revealed that Birmingham and Middlesbrough had joined said transfer race on Monday, it has been widely reported that the 26-year-old is most likely bound for St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park as Chris Davies looks to add late attacking reinforcements.
