Hull City have no plans to sell star players Jacob Greaves or Jaden Philogene this summer - but their stance could be altered if they push for a move.

According to Hull Live, the Tigers are hoping to convince both players to remain at the MKM Stadium amid growing transfer interest.

Both players were key to the team finishing seventh in the Championship table under Liam Rosenior last season.

However, the club is now searching for a replacement for Rosenior after making the decision to part ways with the 39-year-old earlier this week.

It is expected that a name will be confirmed soon, with a number of names linked with the vacancy at the Yorkshire outfit.

Greaves is attracting transfer interest from both West Ham and Everton ahead of the summer market opening.

The centre-back featured 43 times for the team this season as they narrowly missed out on a play-off place, enhancing his reputation with his consistently high level of performance (all stats from Fbref).

Philogene has also boosted his profile with his displays in the Championship this year, especially with his impressive tally of 12 goals and six assists from 32 appearances.

Crystal Palace are among the sides reportedly monitoring the forward ahead of the market opening, whilst the Daily Mail's Tom Collomosse reported Ajax's interest in March, whilst Tottenham's interest was reported around the same time.

Hull’s preference would be to keep both players beyond the summer window, but are willing to listen to offers if both push for a move.

City are planning a big summer of their own, with owner Acun Ilicali set to back the club by allowing for eight to 10 first team additions.

It’s understood that German coach Tim Walter is the favourite to take over in place of Rosenior, and he is set to receive the backing of the Turkish media mogul in the transfer market.

The sale of Greaves and Philogene could help finance some of this spending, but it is not necessary that they depart in order to afford these plans.

Hull’s search for a new manager could impact Greaves and Philogene deals

Walter was linked with the role in the immediate aftermath of Rosenior’s departure on Tuesday afternoon.

However, the likes of Danny Rohl, Martí Cifuentes and Steve Cooper have all also been mentioned as potential candidates.

Coventry City’s Mark Robins has also been named as a possible appointment, with an official decision expected within the next week.

Walter has no English football experience, but has worked in the 2. Bundesliga with the likes of Hamburg and Stuttgart.

He is currently out of work, having left Hamburg in February, and is understood to be eyeing a move to England as the next step in his coaching career.

And a new manager could theoretically see Greaves and Philogene depart from East Yorkshire this summer, should they decide that they are ready for the challenge of the Premier League after fantastic individual seasons in the Championship.

Hull City have a busy summer ahead with Greaves and Philogene interest at the centre

The addition of up to eight or 10 players would mean a lot of transfer activity at Hull this summer.

The new manager will be backed to build a team capable of fighting for promotion to the Premier League, such is the owner’s ambition.

Losing Greaves and Philogene would be a blow given how well they’ve performed this year, but their sales could help fund this spending-spree.

Hull will need to be wary of over-spending given the scrutiny on the financial rules, as well as the massive risk that comes with spending over the odds to fight for promotion, which can have big consequences if they don’t go up.
