Hull City have signed 21-year-old defender Nobel Mendy from Rayo Vallecano for €25m, the highest fee in the English club's history. The newly promoted side have given him a five-year contract to 2031.

According to L'Équipe, Rayo activated their purchase option this summer before choosing to sell the former Paris FC player.

On loan from Real Betis last season, Mendy helped Rayo reach the Europa Conference League final, where they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace.

He signed his first professional contract with Paris FC in 2023, then joined the Betis reserve side that year. After only six appearances for the Andalusian club's first team, he moved to Rayo on loan last term.

Mendy is a centre-back capped once by Senegal.
