Hull City beat Wrexham 2-0 on Wednesday, a result that lifts the hosts from 12th to sixth and into the Championship play-off places.

In the 10th minute, Kyle Joseph turned in from close range to give the hosts control.

After the restart, Wrexham were awarded a penalty when Matt Crooks fouled Nathan Broadhead. Kieffer Moore's spot kick was saved smartly by Ivor Pandur (56.).

Moments later, substitute Oliver McBurnie doubled the lead, sweeping in Ryan Giles' pass on a fast break (67.). Giles' assist takes him to eight in the league, leading the Championship chart.

Liam Millar struck the bar late on as Hull threatened a third.

Hull registered 19 attempts with six on target. Wrexham managed eight attempts and one on target.

Wrexham drop from 13th to 14th. Next, Hull visit Millwall. Wrexham host Watford.
