Hull City drew 0-0 with Watford on Tuesday night, keeping Hull third in the Championship and lifting Watford from 10th to eighth.
In the 14th minute, Joe Gelhardt swept a left-footed chance over after Amir Hadziahmetovic's corner. Giorgi Chakvetadze then drew a smart stop from Ivor Pandur (23.).
Egil Selvik denied Charlie Hughes with a low header in the second minute of first half stoppage time. After the hour, Hull introduced John Lundstram and Lewis Koumas (61.) as they chased a breakthrough.
For the Hornets, Jeremy Petris replaced Jeremy Ngakia (66.) and soon teed up Imran Louza, who steered wide from the centre of the box (67.). Later, Ryan Giles and Liam Millar added fresh legs for Hull (75.).
Deep into the seventh minute of second half stoppage time, Selvik clawed away another Hughes header to preserve the draw.
The Hornets tallied 16 attempts but hit the target only twice. Hull managed six efforts, three on target.
Next, Hull host Bristol City. The Hornets visit Southampton.
