Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice, but Portugal had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Hungary in Lisbon, delaying their World Cup qualification.

Portugal controlled much of the game and took the lead twice through Ronaldo. Nelson Semedo’s clever pass set up the first equaliser after Hungary had opened the scoring through Ádám Szalai’s header from a corner, while Nuno Mendes’ cross allowed Ronaldo to fire home just before the break

Hungary remained competitive throughout. Portugal hit the post on a couple of occasions through Bruno Fernandes and Ruben Dias, and João Félix saw a header saved by goalkeeper Balázs Tóth.

In stoppage time, the visitors spoiled the party. Dominik Lukács’ cross found Dominik Szoboszlai, who slotted home in the small area to earn a dramatic draw.

Despite the setback, Portugal remain top of Group F with ten points, five clear of second-placed Hungary, with two games left to play.
