Hussein Abdulghani has criticised Al-Hilal’s handling of Ali Al-Bulaihi after Simone Inzaghi signalled a shift towards younger players for the new season.

According to Goal.com, Inzaghi told a Thursday press conference that Al-Bulaihi is training but he aims to build around younger options and will rotate accordingly.

Abdulghani reacted by questioning that logic, highlighting Karim Benzema, 38, and Kalidou Koulibaly, 35, as examples to challenge any blanket preference for youth.

He praised Al-Bulaihi’s long service, describing the defender as a cornerstone over many years, and argued that Inzaghi’s comments amount to little more than talk, suggesting the coach does not want the player to stay.

Abdulghani also condemned the decision to exclude Al-Bulaihi from group sessions and make him train alone, framing it as pressure intended to push him towards an exit.

Al-Bulaihi, 36, joined Al-Hilal from Al-Fateh in 2017 and has won multiple domestic and Asian titles with the club. There has been talk of a possible move to another Saudi Roshn League side before the summer window closes.

Al-Hilal face Al-Faisaly this evening, Friday, in their Saudi Roshn Pro League opener.
