Hutton the latest to exaggerate Ibrox club’s credentials after wins over Celtic | OneFootball

Former Rangers defender and now footballing pundit Alan Hutton has boldly claimed that not one member of the Celtic squad would get into the current the Rangers side…

Hutton is the latest voice in the Scottish mainstream media to go over the top in the aftermath of the Ibrox club’s two wins over Celtic, as he made the bizarre claim that no member of the Scottish champions squad would make it into the second placed Ibrox sides team.

Former Scotland international Hutton told Daily Record: “To be totally honest and only going on form at this moment in time, I would say no Celtic players get into the Rangers XI. If you’d asked me this question a month ago, it would have been a lot different, because Celtic started the season well; Rangers didn’t.”

“There were a lot of new players that were trying to bed in. So going on just form, I don’t think there’s any that would get into the Rangers team at this moment in time.”

To be fair to Hutton he did say “at this moment in time” but you could make a claim about any side in the league at this moment as Celtic have been that poor.

Hutton also sang the praises of the Rangers, when just weeks ago he and his fellow pundits were writing them off, which shows just how quickly things can turn in the ever so peculiar game that is football.

Using the same logic then not one player of the Rangers would have got into the Hibs side after they won at Ibrox but it’s only the Ibrox clubs that are indulged in this fashion.

Maybe the sports ‘journalists’ who put this kind of footballing propaganda together might be better served looking at the biggest story in football at the moment – the Premier League’s action against Manchester City and draw the obvious comparisons with the events at Ibrox which came to a head in 2012? The papers north of the border seem reluctant to cover this story. I wonder why?

What Hutton and several others are overlooking, is that the Scottish Champions still sit two points clear at the top of the standings. It only takes one bad result for the Govan Galacticos, and the pressure is firmly back on them, that’s the fact of the matter.

Let’s wait until next May to see how many Celtic players would get into Hutton’s dream team.

There’s still a lot of football to be played between now and May, and to make such predictions at this time is rather foolish. Celtic’s down at the moment but we’re far from being out. Winners do what winners do. How many medals has the current Rangers team got between them?
