We might be five to six months away from the FC Barcelona presidential elections, but the groundwork has already begun, especially from Victor Font’s side. The 53-year-old recently conducted his presentation of the group ‘Nosaltres Barça’.

Xavi Hernandez was in attendance at the event. The 45-year-old tactician was one of Font’s biggest selling points during the 2021 election campaign, but it does not look like that will be the case this time in 2026.

In a long interview with Mundo Deportivo, Victor Font was asked about a host of things concerning Barcelona, and one of them was the plan to replace Robert Lewandowski. Here is what he said:

Lewandowski has been a great servant for Barcelona since he moved to the club from Bayern Munich at a time when things were very difficult at the Catalan club. Despite being 37, he continues to perform at the highest level.

The dream for FC Barcelona fans is to sign someone like Haaland or Álvarez to replace the Pole, who is in the final year of his contract at the club. However, that might be extremely difficult considering the club’s financial landscape.

It remains to be seen whether Víctor Font will use the name of a potential star like Haaland to drive his presidential campaign. That would be a brave statement from the 53-year-old, and the next few months should provide more clarity.
