Manchester City forward Bernardo Silva has dropped a massive hint about where his future lies as he enters the final year of his contract.
Silva has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium over the past couple of years.
He was a primary target for Barcelona before the sensational Lamine Yamal took the world by storm, while Paris Saint-Germain were also interested in the Portuguese maestro.
Both clubs made their interest clear to Man City and even opened talks with both parties.
Silva wanted a new adventure, but Man City’s asking price, coupled with Pep Guardiola’s reluctance to see him leave, threw a spanner in the works.
Transfer speculation surrounding Silva has since waned. But he has hinted that he could leave Man City when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Man City went through a similar situation with Kevin De Bruyne this summer, with the Belgium international now on the cusp of joining Serie A champions Napoli on a free transfer.
Silva could repeat that trick. It remains to be seen if Barca and PSG are still interested, but the Nations League winner is keeping his cards close to his chest at the moment.
“I still have one year left on my contract, so it’s obvious that I can leave Manchester City next season,” Silva said (via Foot Mercato) ahead of the Club World Cup game against Wydad Casablanca.
“I already know what I’m going to do, but it’s not the time to talk about it yet. “I’m very focused on the season and on helping Manchester City. When the time comes, I’ll talk about the future.
“In 2025/26, I’ll be at Manchester City. There were other options, like last year, but my choice is to stay.”
After playing a key role in Portugal’s Nations League win, Silva was an unused substitute in Man City’s curtain raiser against the Moroccan outfit. But his services were not required as Man City won 2-0.
Man City are already rebuilding their squad after finishing third last season. Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki have come in to shore up the midfield, while there are talks of a new winger coming in.
With no talks of a new deal on the cards, there’s every chance this could be Silva’s last hurrah with the Cityzens.
