Didier Deschamps today revealed his latest France squad to play in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers during the international break, and it wasn’t to be for Lens midfielder Florian Thuavin (32) who missed out on a return to Les Bleus after a promising return to Ligue 1 and French football. At a press conference transcribed by RMC Sport, Deschamps aimed to justify the decision to not call up the former Marseille player.“I’m here to make choices,” said Deschamps on Thuavin’s omission for upcoming matches against Azerbaijan and Iceland. “He’s pre-selected, he’s part of the group that could be in the France squad,” Deschamps added, at least acknowledging the winger’s solid form since returning to France with Lens this season. Thauvin has made 6 appearances, scoring 2 goals so far this season after joining from Serie A side Udinese following a difficult spell in Mexico. “When you work hard and perform, you want to dream. It has to be earned, but today I feel stronger than in 2018 – more collective, more complete, with responsibilities that I enjoy,” said Thuavin to Ligue 1+ recently after Lens’ recent Derby du Nord win over Lille.
