In an interview with Téléfoot, Arnaud Kalimuendo (22) has discussed his decision to stay at Rennes during the winter transfer window amid interest from other clubs.
Before the return of Julian Stéphan at Rennes, Kalimuendo was expected to leave Les Rouges et Noirs in the January transfer window. Eintracht Frankfurt were heavily interested in bringing the PSG academy graduate to the Bundesliga, and even submitted a bid for the former Lens loanee but eventually ended up signing Hugo Ekitiké (21) from PSG.
Rennes signed the former France U21 international from PSG in 2022 for a fee of €25m. Kalimuendo’s contract at Roazhon Park is set to expire in 2027.
When asked about the decision to stay at Rennes and the influence of Julian Stéphan, Kalimuendo said, “We really enjoyed because he was really sincere [about me staying] and I felt it was the right path for the rest of my career.”
