‘I can confirm…’ – Ifeanyi Ndukwe’s agent hints at where Liverpool colossus could move next | OneFootball

The agent of Liverpool defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe has said he’s been in ‘dialogue’ with several clubs over a potential loan move for the player for the 2026/27 season.

The 18-year-old has been a revelation for the Reds in pre-season, excelling on the recent tour to the United States and in the friendly against Monaco at Anfield last weekend, earning high praise from journalists like James Pearce.

He won’t be able to remain in Andoni Iraola’s squad in the short-term as he isn’t eligible for a UK work permit, so a loan move outside of England will be necessary in order to obtain regular senior game-time in the upcoming campaign.

Ndukwe’s agent in talks with several clubs already

Ndukwe’s agent Georg Lederer spoke to Tipsbladet about what comes next for the teenager, and he revealed that discussions are ongoing with several overseas clubs.

He stated: “I can’t say which clubs we are in dialogue with, but I can confirm that we are in dialogue with Danish clubs about Ifeanyi Ndukwe. The only thing I can say is that it is not [all] about the top clubs in Denmark.

“We are also talking to several foreign clubs, but right now we have to decide in collaboration with Liverpool where Ifeanyi will fit best.

“We are looking at several different parameters. First and foremost, it is about Ifeanyi getting a lot of playing time, and then Liverpool is also looking at what type of football clubs play, as they want him to play in a high-pressing defence, so it is a bit like what you see in Liverpool.”

Fabrizio Romano claimed on Tuesday (via X) that Ndukwe will go out on loan ‘from next week’, with some offers having ‘already arrived’ from Portuguese clubs.

Ndukwe deserves to be playing regularly this season

While it’s a shame that the 18-year-old won’t remain in the Liverpool squad as backup for this season, the arrival of Ronald Araujo (in addition to Jeremy Jacquet reportedly nearing a return from injury) will likely hinder his chances of playing regularly for the Reds.

Therefore, a sensibly-chosen loan move to a European club in a strong domestic league should enable him to obtain plenty of game-time while also testing himself at a high level and accelerating his progress towards ultimately qualifying for a UK work permit.

The Athletic reported that Ndukwe is ‘weighing up strong offers’ from several clubs across Europe, and it comes as no surprise to us that the teenager is attracting plenty of interest off the back of his recent performances and his ineligibility to play competitively in England.

From Lederer’s comments, it appears as though he and his client will give very careful consideration to which club the 18-year-old joins on loan, with the ideal destination being one where he’d play regularly in a tactical setup similar to that of Iraola at Anfield.

Whoever ends up signing the Austrian will be getting an up-and-coming player with a mightily high ceiling – let’s just hope they look after him properly and enhance his development.
