The 23 year-old – who spoke to The Celtic Star at Tuesday’s fan media conference – insists he chose to join the Nordland club near the Arctic Circle rather than accept offers from a Bundesliga team in Germany or a Premier League side in England, a decision he has no regrets about.

Only four Celtic fan media turned up for the media conference with Celtic’s new star, rather surprising given his outstanding debut at Kilmarnock on Sunday. The Celtic Star were there as were ACSOM and Celts Are Here. Many of the outlets that were previously involved have dropped out over the past two season for one reason or another., leaving just a core group of participants.

While at Aspmyra Stadium, the Tunisian international gained a striking understanding of the level of performance required to succeed in top-tier professional football.

Speaking at his mainstream media conference Tounekti said: “It was a really nice time for me at Bodo/Glimt because I was a young player who was learning a lot.

“[Kjetil] Knutsen was a good coach and I learned a lot under him. We played some European games when I was there. Maybe I didn’t play as much, but I was always around the team. To get the experience at a really young age, was really good for me.

“I can reflect on my time at Bodo/Glimt in many ways,” he added. “Yes, I didn’t play as much as I would have like to, but I do feel like I grew as a player when I was there. My journey has been special. I came up as a young boy. I think the key has been hard work.”

Tounekti also witnessed how Bodo/Glimt – who reached the Conference League quarter-finals three years ago and the Europa League semi-finals last season – consistently overachieve on the European stage.

“They have been working really hard for a really long time,” he continued. “But the coach has a playing style that everyone trusts and believes in. I think it’s the main reason. Everyone knows the role and everyone knows how the coach wants to play. I think it’s one of the main reasons why they’ve been so good.”

“But Celtic is a massive club. It’s one of the reasons why I wanted to come here. I know there have been lots of good wingers here. I had a good talk with the manager when I came. I’m just really excited to work with him and to improve.”

“It’s definitely the biggest season for me so far. It’s been really good to just enjoy everything. I’m just happy to become a Celtic player and to have the opportunity to play here.”

Here’s the Mainstream media conference, followed by the fan media one….

Meanwhile Brendan Rodgers in his interview on Celtic TV yesterday reflected on Sebastian Tounekti’s Celtic debut and his development plans for the exciting winger which will be focused on getting him to score more goals than has previously been the case ahead of his move to Celtic.
