Malo Gusto has been doing individual work at Cobham this week with his injury described as a “pain” issue according to Liam Rosenior.

The Blues are preparing for a huge Premier League game against Brentford on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea head into the game sitting eighth, two points behind the Bees, who are flying high in fifth, and are very much the surprise package this season.

The Blues desperately need three points if they are to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for Champions League football.

Chelsea are currently on a run of one win in their last nine games, and it’s three wins in 13 in all competitions which simply isn’t good enough.

Rosenior was without a number of players for the defeat to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, and it will be interesting to see how many return against Brentford.

Reece James and Cole Palmer have returned to training so could feature, but it appears unlikely Gusto will return, and Rosenior has provided an update.

“I can’t put a time frame on it, because there is no time frame,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“It’s more of a pain issue, so when he feels comfortable, that’s when he’ll be back with the group.”

Gusto has missed the last two games, and has featured in 19 of the 21 Premier League games this season, and has scored twice.

Liam Delap seen in training

Whilst it looks like Gusto will miss out again against Brentford, Liam Delap could return after being seen in training on Friday.

Delap missed the game against Arsenal after falling ill a few hours before kickoff, and it would be a huge boost if he was available.

Marc Guiu really struggled against Arsenal, whilst Joao Pedro was preferred as a number ten, so having Delap’s presence at the top end of the pitch would provide a major boost.
