Erling Haaland admits the 115 Premier League charges aimed at Manchester City didn’t come into his thinking when agreeing his nine-and-a-half-year contract extension.
The Norwegian’s new deal is the longest and one of the most lucrative in English football history and will see Haaland remain at City until 2034.
“I think when I signed for Man City, I felt like at home, and I really meant it,” he spoke ahead of City’s crucial Champions League clash against PSG.
“I feel at home, I feel so happy, my family is so happy, and I think in the end that’s what I wanted, and I’m happy.
On signing his lucrative new deal, Haaland added. “The feeling, and the people I spoke with made me convinced that this was the right choice, the people around me.
“In the end when I spoke with people, we came to this, and it felt really good, and in the end I’m really looking forward to spending so many more years in Manchester. It’s going to be amazing.
“I think it’s a really good sign. It’s a bit unusual, it’s not normal, and that’s also something I like, but in the end it felt good for both parties and in the end it was an easy choice.
Haaland also insists Man City’s 115 charges had no bearing on his decision to sign the new contract.
“I haven’t thought of that, or anything,” he added.“I’m confident that the club know what they’re doing, and in the end I really don’t think I should speak too much about this because I’ve been here two-and-a-half years, and in the end I’m confident that the club knows what they’re doing.”
