De Zerbi opposes move to Kuwait

Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi, at the helm of Olympique de Marseille, has voiced his strong displeasure to the press regarding the decision to relocate the upcoming Champions Trophy to Kuwait, specifically to Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.

According to him, this choice defies logic, especially in the midst of a packed competitive schedule.

Speaking to (Foot Mercato), De Zerbi stated: "I don't understand why the Champions Trophy is being played in Kuwait. We'll be without some key players, like Naïf Aguerd, and we'll have to travel a long distance at a crucial point in the season."He continued: "We're entering a decisive phase in the Champions League. Playing a match outside the continent at this time isn't ideal, but we have to adapt. I hope we can get through this period and recover our injured players."For the record, the French Professional Football League announced that the match pitting PSG, Ligue 1 and French Cup champions, against OM, the runners-up, will officially take place on January 8 in Kuwait.
