Weston McKennie has discussed the Serie A title race this season as Juventus prepares to become one of the clubs challenging for the competition once again this summer.

The men in black and white are always considered one of the top teams in Italian football, so they will certainly be looking to ensure that they win the race for the signatures of the best players. However, that is not their main objective, as their priority is to win trophies.

Juventus have some of the best players around to help them achieve that goal, but the team underperformed last term. When Luciano Spalletti first became their manager, it seemed that the gaffer would lead them to the league title, but his team soon began to struggle, and the manager could not even guide them to a top four finish.

Juventus targeting a stronger season

Juventus will believe this season can be better, particularly after their struggles last term. The club will be hoping to challenge more consistently and establish themselves among the leading contenders for the Scudetto.

However, the competition is expected to be difficult, with several teams capable of mounting a serious title challenge. McKennie’s comments suggest that Juventus are aware of the quality of their rivals and are not taking anything for granted.

Speaking about the season ahead, McKennie said via Calciomercato:

“Inter are still favourites for the Scudetto, is that what the newspapers say? I don’t know. I mean, I think any team in Italy has a chance of winning the Scudetto. Inter obviously have a strong team and won it last year. So if people say that, I guess that’s what they think. Our job, however, is to focus on our game, on what we want to do and try to get out there and change the perception we have of ourselves.”

McKennie focused on Juventus

McKennie’s comments make it clear that Juventus are not concerned with outside predictions. While he acknowledged Inter’s strength and their status as last year’s champions, he stressed that Juventus must concentrate on their own performances.

The midfielder also highlighted the importance of changing the perception surrounding the team. Rather than becoming distracted by the expectations surrounding the title race, Juventus will need to focus on their performances and show that they can compete at the highest level.

With the season ahead offering Juventus another opportunity to challenge for the Scudetto, McKennie’s message is straightforward. The team must focus on its own game, improve its performances and work towards proving that it belongs among Italy’s leading sides.
