It’s been a very good weekend results-wise so far as a Newcastle United fan, as we head into Monday night’s encounter with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
Saturday’s results had fared well for our pursuit of a Champions League place, whilst Sunday’s were arguably even better.
I had only planned on going for a walk and a couple of pints yesterday…
That all changed after watching Fulham’s masterful first half performance against Liverpool at Craven Cottage.
After quickly going behind to an Alexis Mac Allister rocket, Marco Silva’s men regrouped to play some wonderful stuff and lead 3-1 at half-time.
I always enjoy Luckypool getting this kind of treatment and so decided to put my Sunday dinner on hold.
Chelsea were being held by Brentford (or should that be, Brentford held by Chelsea?) at the Gtech Community Stadium and this made my beer taste even sweeter.
Fulham eventually won 3-2 in an entertaining game and oh how Tynemouth Club cheered.
There was another no-show by North Shields Liverpool fan Baldy Nick. Nobody has seen him for three weeks now.
Then when the news that Brentford v Chelsea had ended goalless, there was more joy, and extra rounds being called in at the bar.
My young mate Kyle arrived and things got even better, as Pep’s faltering Manchester City only picked up a point at Mould Trafford and I was pretty merry heading hyem.
