Nicolas Jackson has faced his fair share of criticism since joining Bayern Munich on loan from Chelsea.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, however, is pleased with what he has seen from the Senegalese striker.

“I have a different opinion of Nicolas Jackson than the public, but obviously when he scores a few goals there won't be a debate anymore,” Kompany said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“I'm of the opinion that he's already helped a lot,” he added ahead of Bayern's DFB-Pokal second-round clash with 1. FC Köln on Wednesday.

Apart from the suspended Manuel Neuer and long-term absentees Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito and Jamal Musiala, Kompany has a full squad to choose from for Wednesday's game.

The coach will be pleased with that, as Bayern also face Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League within the next week.

“It's up to Manuel if he comes with us or not. He needs to prepare for Leverkusen. That's his job. But we're playing again very quickly after Köln, so his preparation is key. Beyond that, things look good. We've got Raphael Guerreiro back fit. Josip Stanisic and Serge Gnabry are also back. The squad is as we'd want it going into these three games,” Kompany said.
