England star struggled against Albania
Thomas Tuchel was quick to defend Jude Bellingham after his attitude was questioned during England’s 2-0 defeat of Albania.
Bellingham’s role in the England squad has been at the centre of constant debate during the international break as he battles Morgan Rogers for the starting No10 role.
The Real Madrid midfielder got the nod in Tirana on Sunday, but struggled to make an impression and was withdrawn late in the match, with Rogers his replacement.
Bellingham cut a frustrated figure as he made his way to the sidelines, but Tuchel said he had not taken note of his reaction, insisting the squad is as unified as ever.
Responding to the suggestion that Bellingham was playing for himself, Tuchel said: “That’s a bad impression. First of all, it is your impression, and that is bad because it should be about the collective, and I think what we did in camp is all about the collective.
“I have to then review it (Bellingham’s reaction to being substituted off) because I was very happy about the goal, I had a quick talk with Morgan Rogers and I was sure that everyone will celebrate together.

“I will have to look at it. That is not the image we want to transport, because we feel that everyone is committed and everyone accepts tough decisions, be that before the match or in the match. It excludes no one.”
He continued, adding that he would miss working with the England squad as he waits for their next friendly, which will not be held until March.
“We grew together and I care for the players, I love the players, their attitude, their investment, how they bought into these camps from the start.
“From September, we took step after step on a daily basis. It is a pure pleasure to work with them.
“I told them in the dressing room, I have to say ‘merry Christmas’ and ‘happy new year’, and ‘see you in March’, which really hurts me.
“ I almost got emotional. It is everything you can ask for as a coach at the moment. They are a strong group.”
