There used to be a time where a section of Sheffield United supporters were not fond of Jack Robinson, but these last few seasons have seen the Liverpool born defender turn his Blades career around.

Now, the Bramall Lane faithful are firmly behind the 30-year-old and it looks like a strong possibility that Robinson will be captain of the club in the upcoming campaign, after the likes of Chris Basham, George Baldock, John Egan and Oli Norwood have all departed this summer via free agency.

The former Liverpool player is currently facing an expiring contract himself in 12 months time. Despite being part of the worst Premier League defence in history, many United supporters felt that Robinson was one of the standout players last term and they believe he will play a huge part in this upcoming Championship season.

Robinson has already revealed that he wants to stay with Sheffield United until he retires as he opens up about turning his Blades career around after a tough start.

Speaking to The Star, he said: “I remember sitting down when we got beat in the play-offs against Nottingham Forest and Hecky [Paul Heckingbottom] at the time was talking about a new deal. I said I wanted to finish my career here having bought into the club.

“I’ve mentioned it to the manager [Chris Wilder] and the fans are on board now. The love they give me is something I appreciate every week and it’s something I’d like to continue for a lot longer. And be a stalwart of this club. I honestly love this club, the last four years have been a lot of love and hate but it’s something I’ve enjoyed. It’s been a challenge, but it’s been really defining for me as a character and a player. It’s something I’m really proud of.”

Robinson has made 120 appearances in the red and white shirt having scored seven goals and provided four assists.

Sheffield United have been selected for Sky Sports coverage

In other news, the club have confirmed that the Blades have been selected for Sky Sports coverage and as a result the fixtures have been slightly altered.

We already knew Sheffield United’s curtain raiser away at Preston North End would feature live on Sky Sports on the 9th of August. And now we can add two more fixture amendments.

Firstly, the home fixture against Watford, which was supposed to take place on the 31st of August at 3PM, will now take place on the 1st of September at 3PM after being selected for Sky Sports coverage.

Additionally, the trip to Hull City, which was set for the 14th of September at 3PM, is now taking place on the 13th of September at 8PM and will be shown on Sky Sports Football.
