FC Barcelona won another match in the 2024-25 season last night as they got over a difficult Rayo Vallecano side with another 2-1 victory. After falling behind by a goal in the first half, the Catalans responded forcefully to the hosts in the second half as Pedri and Olmo scored the two goals to give their side the full three points.
With this win, Barcelona sit alone at the summit of the La Liga points table. However, this win had a significant cost as one of the emerging midfielders, Marc Bernal, had to leave the pitch with an injury. The 17-year-old suffered a torn ACL and is thus expected to remain on the sidelines for a long time to come.
This is one of the worst injuries that a footballer can have, and it will be a particularly bitter blow for Bernal, who started the last three games for Flick, as he will have to lose a significant period of development.
In such a difficult circumstance, Bernal received messages of support and strength from all over the world, with his Barcelona teammates also sending him support through social media. One such teammate was Gavi, who himself is currently recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in the last season.
As highlighted by Barca Buzz, Gavi shared a picture of Bernal being helped by the Barcelona medical team off the pitch, and wrote: “I know it is hard but I am sure you will come back like an animal!!! We are with you.” This message was accompanied by heart emojis.
