Joao Pedro did an interview with Sky Sports today where he was asked about what he had been speaking to Liam Rosenior about in their early weeks together at Chelsea.

“He said he likes me as a striker, but sometimes I’m going to be a number ten. So he told me to be ready to learn both positions. I think it’s good for me, but I prefer to play as a 9.

Joao Pedro speaks to Sky Sports.

This really is confusing. We signed him as a number 9, then were told he’s better as a number 10, now the man himself is saying he wants to be up front.

That’s what we want from him – but we’re pretty sure Enzo Maresca was saying the opposite. Let’s hope that some clear thinking from Rosenior and some tactical tweaks to the players around him are going to held get the best out of JP.

First priority is getting him more shots – he’s got a great strike on him, but his stats for the number he takes are too low. He needs to be put in the best positions to have a go, all the time.
