‘I score more goals than them combined’ – Mbappé responds to work rate comparisons with Barcelona & PSG stars | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has turned heads across the world of football on Monday. This comes owing to a defiant round of comments regarding his work rate and production in front of goal.

Frontman Mbappé took his place in front of the media earlier today, facing questions ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League season opener against Inter Milan on Tuesday.

During the exchange, the Frenchman – fresh off missing a last-gasp penalty at Real Betis over the weekend – was drawn on a whole host of topics, from his side’s upcoming opponents to the race for the Ballon d’Or and more.

As alluded to above, though, it was another question which drew a response on Mbappé’s part which has since grabbed widespread attention.

Asked for his take on the superior work rate showcased by some of world football’s other leading players in his position, the 27-year-old made use of the opportunity to hit back at his critics:

“Players like Raphinha and Dembele press more? Of course, we have to improve, but I can play dumb and tell you that I score more goals than the two you mentioned; they have to score more goals to be like me. I have to improve, but I don’t like to compare. I do many things that others don’t. If we get into this, it would be an endless debate.”
