Norwich City will face an uncertain pre-season following the appointment of Johannes Hoff Thorup.

The 35-year-old was appointed as the replacement to David Wagner after the Canaries failed to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Wagner guided the team to a sixth place finish, but a 4-0 loss in the play-off semi-finals to Leeds United ended his time in the Carrow Road dugout.

Hoff Thorup will bring some uncertainty going into the new campaign, with supporters unsure of what to expect from their new coach.

But he has earned plaudits for his work in his career so far, having previously managed Danish side Nordsjælland.

FLW’s Norwich fan pundit Zeke Downes has made two predictions for what could happen this summer at Norwich, ahead of the new campaign following Hoff Thorup’s arrival.

The Canaries supporter expects to see a lot of changes to the first team squad this summer, with departures and fresh faces both predicted.

“I think that a few of the players that we had on loan are going to come back and play in the first team,” Downes told Football League World.

“I think [Abu] Kamara and Brad Hills, it’s rumoured they’re going to be looked at in pre-season and I think they’re going to be ones who will replace some of the players that we had.

“So I think Kamara is going to replace [Jon] Rowe, and be the next one in line, and I think Hill is going to replace Danny Batth.

“Another thing, I think Idah will go.”

Rowe emerged from the academy system last season, and proved himself to be a key part of the team, but has attracted interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur.

His departure could open the door for someone like Abu Kamara, who is set to return from loan this summer after a spell at Portsmouth in League One.

Adam Idah’s Norwich future

Meanwhile, Danny Batth’s departure from Carrow Road has already been confirmed after his contract was not renewed beyond this June.

This could give someone like Hills the opportunity to take his place in the squad for next season.

Elsewhere, Adam Idah spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Celtic and has been linked with a permanent move to Parkhead after a successful stint in Brendan Rodger’s squad.

It has been reported that it will take £8 million to convince Norwich to part ways with the striker this summer.

A busy summer ahead for Norwich

Hoff Thorup will want to work closely with sporting director Ben Knapper to shape the squad to his liking this summer.

That means it is likely we will see some incomings and outgoings at Carrow Road, but it could also mean young players being given an opportunity to impress in the senior squad.

Kamara was excellent while on loan at Pompey, and has earned the chance to step up to the Championship.

And selling someone like Idah, who had fallen out of favour under Wagner, could also help raise funds for further investment into the team.
