Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney thinks Chelsea are just going to become a “higher version” of Brighton.
Chelsea have drastically changed the way they operate following the takeover by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
The Blues have completely rebuilt the squad, with a focus on signing young talents on long term contracts and developing them.
Chelsea have been heavily criticised for their transfer policy, but the Blues showed real signs of improvement last season, which was without doubt the best under the new ownership.

Chelsea once again spent heavily in the summer, but it was young stars rather than genuine proven quality which formed the bulk of their business.
Maresca is expected to guide Chelsea to Champions League football again next season, but Deeney has stated he’s not sure when it’s all going to come together for the Blues.
“I look at Chelsea and I just don’t know when it’s going to click, if you get what I mean,” he told talkSPORT.
“I think they are going to buy young again next year and they are going to be in the same position they are in next year.
“Just become a higher version of Brighton.”
Chelsea currently sit third in the league, six points behind early leaders Arsenal, and in a good position for this stage of the season.
The ultimate aim is to get the Blues back to winning the Premier League title, which they’ve not done since 2017 under Antonio Conte.

In fact they haven’t come close since then, and have really struggled to find a level of consistency over a 38 game season.
The aim this season will be to challenge for as long as possible and make sure the gap to Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City closes.
