"I want to show the world Egyptian talent": Omar Marmoush's Premier League mission

Egyptian international Omar Marmoush says he takes immense pride in representing his country in the Premier League adding that he hopes his performances can inspire new generation of Egyptian players to chase their dreams in Europe.

Speaking in an interview with the Premier League’s official channels, the Man City forward reflected on his first months at the Etihad where he's already scored 7 goal in 13 appearance since joining from Eintracht Frankfurt last January.

"It’s honour to be Egyptian, I want to show the world that Egypt has great players and real talent. Hopefully young Egyptians can see my journey and believe in their own" Marmoush said in a video posted on the league’s official account.

One of Marmoush’s most talked about moments remains his stunning strike against Bournemouth , a long range rocket from 35 yard out that showcased his confidence & technique.

"I don’t really know what made me shoot from that distance, It just happens instinctively. Thankfully it was the right decision — I’d love to do it again" he smiled.

The forward also reflected on his first Premier League goal against Newcastle United which came from well rehearsed tactical move involving Erling Haaland & goalkeeper Ederson.

"It was planned play — we worked on it in training, Ederson’s distribution is unreal. Honestly 80–90% of that goal belongs to him" Marmoush explained.

Fast adaptation & team spirit

Since arriving at City , Marmoush has adapted quickly to Pep Guardiola’s demanding system:

"My teammates make everything easier. They give me the confidence to express myself. Even when things don’t go perfectly, the culture here pushes you to try again — that’s what makes City strong"

The Egyptian star also opened up about his first career hat trick, scored in only his third match for City:

"It was dream start. Scoring hat trick for club like this — I couldn’t ask for more. It showed that all the work I’ve put in over the years is paying off"

From Wadi Degla to the Premier League

Marmoush credited his calm upbringing at Wadi Degla in Cairo for shaping his mentality.

"Playing for smaller club meant I didn’t have heavy pressure early on. That helped me develop quietly and learn at my own pace. When I moved to Europe, that calmness became one of my strengths"

Now , regular for Egypt’s national team and fresh from helping the Pharaohs qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

"I want to be more than player who scores goals .. I want to represent Egypt in the best way possible"
