QPR have been able to hold onto Rayan Kolli through the summer transfer window despite initial interest earlier in the market.

It was reported by Foot Mercato back in April that Lille, as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia, were eyeing a move for the youngster.

However, he has remained at Loftus Road, with just four weeks remaining in the window before it shuts until January.

Kolli has featured 30 times in the Championship for QPR, including nine starts, contributing four goals and three assists.

When asked if he’s confident Kolli will now remain at the club beyond this summer, FLW’s QPR fan pundit Louis Moir claimed a move at this stage seems unlikely.

He believes the player needs to nail down his best role, citing left-wing as an option, and have more of a breakout year in the team with more minutes before possibly earning a big money deal in the future.

“I’m pretty confident that Kolli is still going to be a QPR player in over a month’s time,” Moir told Football League World.

“I think I will be surprised if any club shows serious interest in him cause he obviously did well last season when he played, he had good numbers, he scored a few goals, but he’s still raw.

“We still don’t really know what his best position is, and I wouldn’t say I’m fearful of a late bid at all, really.

“And if there was, I don’t think it would match what our value would be for him, and so far this pre-season when he’s had a chance he looks, and also from training videos, it looks to me that he may be utilised as a left-winger.

“Which, to be fair, you could say is maybe his best position because he can cut in, he can roam about, he can drift around the front three and, yes, he scored a few goals last season, I just don’t think he’s good enough yet to be that number nine sort of player.

“I think he’s more technically gifted than that, and if he does make that left-wing position his own, because at the moment really, yes Dembele could do a job out there but you’d probably want him more as a 10 or on the right, and Paul Smith looks like he could maybe switch wings this season and go back onto the left, like he did at Leyton Orient.

“So there’s any option there for Kolli, definitely is, and he could potentially have a bigger breakout season, in a way.

“And if he does have a good season, then you could see serious interest in him maybe next summer.

“But for this remaining window, I’d be surprised if he goes now, I can’t see it at all.

“It’s just fingers crossed that we get to see the ability that he clearly has, and hopefully he can further develop and make that left-wing position his own potentially, or just really get a lot more minutes than he did last season, and stay injury-free.

“Because he has serious potential, I would just like to see it more often on a consistent basis, but I’m very, very excited about what he could bring, definitely.

“For me, I think he’ll still be a QPR player, could have a cracking season and go for some big money next year.”

QPR will begin their Championship season with a home clash against Preston North End on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.

Kolli should stay with QPR for this season

Kolli is coming through the ranks at QPR and has grown in importance to the side in the last 12 months.

The opportunity to now work with Julien Stéphan could be what he needs at this stage of his career, so staying at Loftus Road makes a lot of sense.

If he can continue to go from strength to strength and have a strong campaign, then there’s no doubt there will be interest next summer.
