One of the standout performers of the European Championships to date has this week admitted that he is keen on the prospect of a summer move to La Liga giants Barcelona.
The player in question? Stanislav Lobotka.
Midfielder Lobotka, for his part, is fresh off seeing his country’s Euro 2024 campaign brought to an end in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday night.
After carrying a shock 1-0 advantage deep into injury-time in a Last-16 showdown with England, Slovakia hearts were broken at the death, by a combination of Jude Bellingham, and Harry Kane.
Despite his side’s eventual defeat, though, Lobotka shone bright once more.
Controlling proceedings from his berth at the base of midfield, the Napoli star showcased once again why he has become something of a man in demand on the transfer front.
One such club hotly tipped as a potential landing spot for Lobotka have been the aforementioned Barcelona, whose pursuit of reinforcements in the middle of the park is understood to have seen the 29-year-old’s name brought to the fore on more than one occasion.
And, if the latest comments on the part of Lobotka himself are anything to go by, it would appear that the interest is very much mutual.
Speaking in the aftermath of Slovakia’s Euros exit, the midfield conductor was drawn directly on his Camp Nou links.
And Lobotka’s response proved a telling one, as follows:
“Barcelona? I followed them when I was a child, with Deco and Ronaldinho. If an offer came I would like to go there.”
