Chelsea are one of the clubs keeping an eye on the situation of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez according to reports.

The Blues were linked with Alvarez in 2024 before he moved to the Spanish capital in a big money deal from Manchester City.

Alvarez has been a success in La Liga so far, and scored 29 goals in all competitions last season, whilst he’s got nine in 15 so far this campaign.

Chelsea ultimately missed out on Alvarez that summer, and this summer they completely revamped their forward line with five attacking signings.

The Blues currently have Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Marc Guiu as their striker options, whilst Emanuel Emegha will join from Strasbourg next summer.

However, despite missing out on the 25-year-old, the Argentina international could be on the move again, with a future move to Stamford Bridge not entirely ruled out according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

“He has been very good for Atletico, outstanding even, but intermediaries are making it clear that he is considering his options, he said as quoted on X.com

“Whilst Barca seems the most likely option for him, PSG and Chelsea are very much keeping close tabs on the situation.

“I am told that clearly Barca and PSG appeal to Alvarez, but don’t rule out a move to London with Chelsea.

“There is also Enzo Maresca. He and Alvarez worked well together during their time together at Manchester City. It’s one to keep an eye on. If Alvarez does become available this summer, I wouldn’t dismiss Chelsea at all.”

Whilst a potential move for Alvarez would be amazing, it feels unlikely given the current situation at Chelsea in the forward areas.

Obviously you can never say never when it comes to Chelsea in the transfer market, but the Blues do already have a striker in Emegha arriving next summer.

Emegha has penned a seven year contract at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues believe he has greater potential than Nicolas Jackson.
