Iago Teodoro returns home as Flamengo face Volta Redonda | OneFootball

Iago Teodoro reunites with his formative club on Saturday, as Flamengo visit Volta Redonda in the second round of the Carioca at Estádio Raulino de Oliveira.

It is his second outing at the ground this month. He was there on Saturday 10, when the centre-back struck a late equaliser to deny Portuguesa in a fixture brought forward from the fifth round. According to Coluna Do Fla, the defender, who captains Flamengo, hails from Volta Redonda.

The stadium holds fond memories from his youth career, where he lifted the Copa do Brasil Sub-17 against São Paulo in 2021 and the Brasileiro Sub-20 against Palmeiras in 2023.

After scoring against Portuguesa, he said he had given family and friends a special gift in his city and could not have felt better.

Inside the club he is viewed as a prized talent, noted for leadership and a habit of rescuing the side. As captain, he headed an equaliser in the 2025 under-20 world final against Barcelona.
