Aston Villa have completed the signing of left-back Ian Maatsen from Chelsea.
The Netherlands international has joined Villa for a fee believed to be in the region of £37.5m.
Maatsen, who is currently with the Netherlands at Euro 2024, spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, who failed in their bid to re-sign him from Chelsea on a permanent basis.
Confirming Maatsen's arrival on Friday evening, Villa said in a statement: "Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Ian Maatsen from Chelsea.
"The 22-year-old was named in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season after helping Borussia Dortmund reach the final of the competition in 2023/24.
"Maatsen, who is currently with the Netherlands at this summer's European Championship in Germany, becomes Unai Emery's second summer signing.
"The highly-rated left-back enjoyed an impressive spell on loan with Dortmund over the second half of last season.
"Maatsen registered 16 appearances in the Bundesliga and seven in the Champions League, finding the net in the club’s quarter-final triumph over Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea's statement read: "Ian Maatsen has left Chelsea and completed a permanent transfer to Aston Villa.
"The Dutchman has made the switch to the Midlands and ends his six-year Chelsea stay, which culminated in a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund during the second half of last season.
"The versatile left-sided player joined our Academy from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2018 and made his senior debut for the Blues a year later, coming off the bench during a 7-1 League Cup win over Grimsby Town in September 2019.
"Following successful Football League loans at Charlton Athletic, Coventry City and Burnley – the latter of whom he helped to the Championship title – Maatsen returned to Chelsea and was incorporated into the first-team squad ahead of the 2023/24 season.
"The left-back made 15 appearances for the Blues before spending the second half of the season on loan at Dortmund, who he helped reach the Champions League final against Real Madrid last month.
"Maatsen will now continue his career at Villa Park having agreed a permanent switch to Unai Emery’s side.
"We thank Ian for all his efforts at Stamford Bridge and wish him well for the future."
