With talks over Bradley Barcola’s move to Liverpool yet to progress, Paris Saint-Germain are also managing Ibrahim Mbaye’s future, and Liverpool and Dortmund have moved in front.

According to L'Équipe, PSG have already raised €156m from the sales of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan, Lee Kang-in to Atlético Madrid, Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus and Noham Kamara to OL, and their business is far from finished.

Mbaye, 18 and under contract until 2028, has played 42 senior games. He wanted a bigger role this season but now seeks a club where he can play regularly, something he no longer believes is realistic at PSG.

Initially minded to stay in France, he was told by Luis Campos and Luis Enrique that his minutes would be similar and that the choice over his future was his. A loan was floated, yet plans to sign more attackers have reinforced the idea that a move could suit him.

Interest has gathered for months, with England and Germany emerging. Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Leipzig and Leverkusen, plus Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Chelsea, have all made varying approaches.

Leipzig were the most advanced option recently while discussing Yan Diomandé with PSG, but that collapsed. Leverkusen also submitted an undisclosed bid, which was rejected.

European clubs and Mbaye’s camp, led by Jorge Mendes, await PSG to set an asking price, and a sale would not be opposed if the offer is satisfactory. Mbaye has not chosen his destination, and if the fee is manageable he could opt for an intermediate club to maximise minutes. For now, Liverpool and Dortmund have put forward detailed pitches.
