Ibrahim Mbaye transfer: Liverpool in pole position to sign PSG wonderkid

Ibrahim Mbaye has been linked with a move away from PSG this summer, and Liverpool are keen on signing him.

According to Football Insider, they are now in pole position to sign the player. Multiple clubs are keen on the young winger, but Liverpool are leading the race to sign Mbaye.

Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Liverpool are trying to put themselves in a position where they could be frontrunners for Ibrahim Mbaye.

“With Liverpool now showing their cards and making their interest known, they’re hoping that will give them an advantage, but there is a bit of a battle for his signature right now. “PSG, I think, reluctantly would possibly let him move on with the plethora of attackers that they’ve got in their star-studded side.

“Liverpool will be hoping to make headway on a potential deal in the coming days and weeks, and they’ll be hoping they can possibly get a deal done for the 18-year-old as soon as possible.”

The Senegal international is a prodigious talent with a bright future, and he could be an asset for the Reds. Mbaye will add pace, flair and directness to the team.

Liverpool looked quite blunt going forward last season, and they need more unpredictability. Mohamed Salah has left the club, and they need to replace the Egyptian as well.

Mbaye might not be able to replicate Salah’s end product for now, but he could develop into a star for Liverpool in future.

Regular football in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his potential. He is not a guaranteed starter for PSG, and leaving the French club would be ideal for him.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can agree on a fee for him. PSG are prepared to sell for the right price.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are looking at Bradley Barcola from the French club as well. However, the French international will be a much more expensive proposition. It remains to be seen whether they can sign the Senegal International for a reasonable amount of money.
