Ibrahima Ba still a mystery at Sporting: the latest update | OneFootball

Ibrahima Ba has still not fully returned to Sporting training and remains a doubt for the away trip to Braga, scheduled for October 9. The situation is worrying Rui Borges, especially as Zeno Debast has already been confirmed unavailable for the match.

The Senegalese centre-back remains under the care of the Performance Unit, continuing his recovery process. His progress over the next few days will be decisive in determining whether he can be considered for the eighth round league match.

The absence becomes even more significant because of Debast’s suspension, after being sent off against Arouca. Rui Borges therefore knows he will have less room to choose in central defence for a particularly important match after the consecutive draws against Famalicão and Arouca.

While waiting for medical updates, the coach is also continuing to work with a very reduced group. The international break has taken 17 players away from Sporting, forcing the coaching staff to once again call on several players from the reserve team.

Samuel Justo, Mateo Tanlongo, Paulo Cardoso, Lucas Taibo, Mauro Couto, Bidu, Ivanildo Mendes, Kauã Oliveira and Micael Sanhá were called up to train with the lions’ first team to complete the sessions in Alcochete. Nuno Santos is the other player still unavailable. The wing-back continues to do muscle compensation work and is only expected to return during the second half of October.
