Ibrahima Konaté has announced the death of his father, Hamady, a day after missing Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Marseille.

The player said in a post that a prayer in tribute will take place on Friday in Aulnay-sous-Bois.

In his absence on Wednesday, manager Arne Slot started Joe Gomez alongside captain Virgil Van Dijk.
