Zlatan Ibrahimovic has to ‘go against his second home’, Italy, and pick a goal against the Azzurri as the best one of his career, but adds: ‘The England goal was also nice and it felt better because it was against England.’
Ibrahimovic received the ‘President Award’ from Aleksander Ceferin before the beginning of the Champions League draw on Thursday.
The RedBird advisor thanked UEFA’s President for the award and then replied to a question about the best goal he scored as a footballer.
“I have many, but if I were to choose, I would need to go against my second home, Italy, and the goal I scored against Buffon was pretty good, not bad,” Ibrahimovic replied.
As Azzurri fans painfully recall, Ibra referred to a Euro 2004 backheel goal he scored against Italy in the dying moments of a group-phase game with the Swedish national team. Italy were then eliminated in the group stage.
Ibra, however, said more about his career goals, trolling the Three Lions: “Then the England goal was also nice, and because it was against England, it felt better.”
Ibrahimovic scored 62 goals in 122 appearances with the Swedish national team.
A former striker for Milan, Inter and Juventus, the Swedish legend netted 156 goals in 283 Serie A matches.
