RedBird Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic criticised Ronald Koeman after the Netherlands were eliminated from the World Cup Round of 32: ‘He looked like an Italian coach, playing not to lose.’

Former Serie A star Ibrahimovic, currently serving as Senior Advisor to Milan owner Gerry Cardinale, didn’t hold back when commenting on the Netherlands’ defeat on penalties to Morocco in the World Cup Round of 32 last night.

Ibrahimovic: ‘Koeman looked like an Italian coach’

“I’m super disappointed because this is not a Dutch school; you learn the way you play football. The only thing they taught me was attacking and attacking. This is not their identity,” Ibrahimovic said.

“They didn’t play with their identity today. Koeman looked like an Italian coach today, playing not to lose.

“When the Dutch team plays, they play to win. If you are going to lose, at least you lose with your identity; you don’t change it.”

Roma striker Donyell Malen was not even introduced as a substitute against Morocco and finished his 2026 World Cup campaign with no goals in three appearances.
