If OGC Nice finish 16th in Ligue 1, their Coupe de France final against Lens on 22 May would force the promotion-relegation play-off to be rescheduled.
According to L'Équipe, the two-leg tie, which pits Ligue 1’s 16th against the Ligue 2 play-off winner, is currently set for Thursday 21 May at 20:45 and Sunday 24 May at 20:45. Nice are 15th, three points clear of AJ Auxerre, and visit Auxerre next Sunday at 21:00.
Last season, Stade de Reims navigated a similar situation. They drew 1-1 with Metz in the first leg on 21 May, lost the Coupe de France final to PSG 3-0 on 24 May, then went down after a 3-1 extra-time defeat in the return on 29 May.
Reims played the final between the two legs with the required three days of rest. That window is not possible for Nice, who face Metz on Sunday 17 May and contest the final five days later.
The LFP has warned the club that, if they do end up 16th, the play-off would be pushed to the following week, with the first leg on Tuesday 26 May and the return likely on Saturday 30 May. It could move to Friday 29 May if PSG were to reach the Champions League final to avoid a clash.
