If we can’t get Kvistgaarden, I’d be happy with French Eddie

There’s been many rumours flying around recently regarding transfer incomings especially with the summer transfer window only a couple of months from opening for business.
One name that I have seen mentioned is an old favourite of the Celtic supporters and that would be Odsonne Edouard. ‘French Eddie’ is out of the picture at current club Crystal Palace and has failed to impress or even get a game at recently relegated Leicester City who he’s been on loan to recently, so it’s natural that he would be a name floating around the transfer rumour mill.
This has divided the opinion among the Celtic supporters commenting on the speculation with some in favour and some not, and as for me, I wouldn’t be opposed to him being on a list of potential Brendan Rodgers targets.

For me our number one target should be, as I stated yesterday on The Celtic Star, Mathias Kvistgaarden. However if business for the goalscoring Dane can’t be done then Edouard is certainly a player we should be looking at.
Yes, he’s fallen off the radar after a bright start down south but he’s still a terrific player, and at 27 he’s still to hit the peak years of his career.
He only has one year left on his current deal at Selhurst Park so wouldn’t cost a fortune. We know what he is capable of, and he would undoubtedly improve our attacking options, and a great option if a deal for Kvistgaarden can’t be concluded.

Brendan Rodgers knows the player and also knows all about the Premier League and how it can be a struggle for players. Odsonne Edouard played the best football of his career at Celtic and it’s also the only place that he has had the adulation of a support driving him on.
His career appears to be going nowhere fast and if the opportunity to return to Celtic came his way he should grab it with both arms, without a second of hesitation. What is certain is that he has to get a move from Crystal Palace this summer.

We welcomed Jota back and are about the bring KT home, so why not Eddie? As I said he’s not my top priority, but a decent option all the same. Stranger things have happened but I would not be surprised if his name features on Brendan’s summer shopping list, maybe not as the top choice.
If he’s forced to work his way down the list then he might find himself looking at Odsonne Edouard’s name. Maybe even a loan move would suit all parties.
Odsonne Edouard was adored by the Celtic support. What a song he had!
