The Inspección General de Justicia, part of the Justice Ministry, said in a statement that it had rejected the Argentine Football Association’s request to move its registered address from the City of Buenos Aires to Buenos Aires province. The regulator confirmed the federation remains legally based at its long-standing Viamonte Street headquarters in the capital.

The declared provincial address contained no AFA office, authority or administrative activity, and was not linked to any operational facility.

Regulations require national supervision of assemblies, yet AFA is seeking validation of decisions from its most recent meeting that was overseen by provincial authorities.

Serious compliance issues include the lack of an approved statute reform, outstanding explanations for balance sheets and accounts from 2017 to 2024, the absence of 2025 financial statements, and failure to cancel its entry in the Public Registry.

The conduct was described as a deliberate attempt to evade the law, with a warning that no entity can sidestep legal obligations through irregular manoeuvres. The message underlined that the rule of law and equality before the law admit no exceptions.
