Nottingham Forest striker Igor Jesus says adapting to the Premier League in his first season has been demanding after last summer’s switch from Botafogo.

“It’s not easy to arrive in your first season here and adapt. Doing a great job like this makes me happy because I prepared so much so that when I arrived I could do a great job.” He was speaking to TNT Sports.

The 25-year-old has 12 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions, including seven in the Europa League that have taken Forest into the last-16.

In the league he has two in 28, and improving that will certainly aid the survival fight over the final nine games.

He set up Morgan Gibbs-White in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw at Manchester City, a point that kept Forest out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Chris Wood’s knee injury has given Jesus extended minutes, and Wood could return next month, a boost for Vitor Pereira with Lorenzo Lucca struggling and Taiwo Awoniyi the only other forward.

Regular minutes have prompted talk of a Brazil recall for Jesus, who has five caps and has not featured in recent camps. “To be honest, I just keep doing my job here. I haven’t had any kind of contact (with the national team).”
