Igor Tudor started back-up goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky for Tottenham’s Champions League last-16 first leg at Atlético de Madrid, only to replace him after 16 minutes as two early errors preceded a 3-0 deficit by 15 minutes.

L'Équipe reports that Kinsky, preferred to regular number one Guglielmo Vicario, sent a sixth-minute clearance straight to Ademola Lookman near his box, and after two touches Marcos Llorente opened the scoring for Atlético.

Eight minutes later, Antoine Griezmann made it 2-0, with Kinsky able to do little after Micky van de Ven slipped.

From the restart, Kinsky completely missed his kick, allowing Julian Alvarez to score the third in the 15th minute. Tudor substituted him a minute later.

Applauded by Atlético supporters, Kinsky went straight down the tunnel and may not have seen Vicario, restored in goal, beaten for a fourth by Robin Le Normand in the 22nd minute, despite an initial fine save.

Kinsky, tracked by Auxerre in the winter window, endured a nightmare cameo. Tottenham are already struggling in the Premier League, 16th with a one-point advantage over 18th.
