Igor Vinicius has trained with the squad at CT Rei Pelé and, as he nears the end of recovery from a fractured big toe, could strengthen Santos for the Botafogo match when the Brasileirão resumes.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Friday’s session was lighter for those who played more than 45 minutes in a training game against Osasco Sporting, with the rest put through technical and tactical work. Attacking midfielder Gabriel Bontempo and winger Moisés have begun physical transition, the former after a pubic inflammation treated internally and the latter following a sprain sustained in a friendly with União São João last weekend.
Santos return to league action on Thursday 16 at 19:30, away to Botafogo at Nilton Santos, the final round of the first half. There is hope Vinicius will be fit, with midfielder Gabriel Menino and Under-20 forward Davi Fernandes having filled in at right-back.
Bontempo and Moisés remain doubts. The rest of the group is available, though Gabriel Barbosa is suspended after a red card for an obscene gesture and will miss the game in Rio de Janeiro. Neymar Jr has been granted days off after Brazil’s World Cup exit and is due back on Friday 17.
Cuca could also regain a homegrown option. Paraguay forward Gustavo Caballero, knocked out of the World Cup, is on leave but is set to report back on Tuesday 14. He has recent minutes and should train as normal, so could be in contention to face Botafogo.
